An exam encouragement letter that gives courage, not pressure
Written by hand · Sealed with wax · Sent as one link
A student the night before a big exam has already heard "good luck" a dozen times, and every mention of results lands as one more thing to carry. A good letter does the opposite: it reminds them who they are outside the test and says plainly that your feelings for them do not depend on the score.

Ways to begin
“I'm not writing to tell you to do well. I'm writing because I've watched how hard you've worked this year, and I wanted you to know I noticed.”
“Whatever happens on exam day, nothing about how I see you changes. I'll be the same person waiting for you afterward, probably with food.”
“I remember you at the kitchen table at midnight, still going through the same chapter. That kind of stubbornness is what I'm betting on, not the score.”
What to write
1. Name one specific thing you saw them do, like the early mornings, the practice papers or the time they kept going after a bad mock result. Effort you witnessed is more convincing than any "you've got this."
2. Leave out the words score, pass, rank and make us proud. Even kind phrases like "I know you'll get a great result" quietly set a bar.
3. End with something small and concrete for after the exam, such as a meal, a walk or a lazy afternoon. It gives them a finish line that has nothing to do with the result.
Frequently asked questions
Q. What do I write if I don't want to say good luck?
Say what you have seen: their effort, their habits, a moment you were impressed. Then tell them how you feel about them no matter the outcome, and mention a plan for after the exam. That says more than luck ever could.
Q. Can I make sure the letter arrives on the morning of the exam?
Yes. Set an opening date and the sealed letter unlocks at 00:00 that day, so it is waiting when they wake up. You send one link by any messenger, text or email, and they open it in a browser with no app and no sign-up. Writing, sealing and sending are free.
